## Synopsis

Merlí. Sapere Aude (2019-2021) is a Catalan-language coming of age drama series created by Héctor Lozano for TV3 and Movistar Plus. Set in a Barcelona university, it follows Pol Rubio (Carlos Cuevas), a wayward philosophy student who drifts through campus life until he is drawn toward an intriguing new professor, the unorthodox Merlí. Pol's friendships with Bruno Bergeron (David Solans), Rai (Pablo Capuz) and Oti (Claudia Vega) give the show its warmth, while María Bolaño (María Pujalte) and Minerva (Azul Fernández) bring the complications of romance and loyalty. Each episode is built around classroom debates on philosophers and ideas that spill into the students' private lives, with desire, identity and the search for meaning pressing against the rules of institutional life. Across two seasons of eight episodes each, the series keeps a steady, character driven focus, moving through tangled crushes, friendships tested by honesty and the uneasy pull of a mentor who challenges everyone around him. The tone is intimate and talkative, sincere and sometimes melancholic, with moments of humor and tenderness. Fans of Skins, Elite and Dead Poets Society will find resonance in its blend of youthful restlessness, queer self discovery and provocative classroom philosophy.
