## Synopsis

Capitani (2019-2022) is a Luxembourgish crime drama series created by Thierry Faber, Eric Lamhene and Christophe Wagner for RTL Télé. Across two seasons and twenty-four episodes, the story follows gruff detective Luc Capitani (Luc Schiltz), a southerner sent to the north, and Elsa Ley (Sophie Mousel), a young and intrepid local policewoman who becomes his unwilling partner. Their engine is a murder investigation: the body of a teenage girl is found in the forest near the rural village of Manscheid, and the pair must pry open a closed, communal and protective community where every household seems to be hiding something. Each season works as a continuing case in which secrets and lies pile up, and the officers are pulled deeper into a web of local loyalties. The series is a European police procedural with a brooding, tense and unsettling register, grounded in the frosty, wooded landscape of rural Luxembourg. Its atmosphere, outsider friction and slow-building suspicion invite comparison with Broadchurch, The Killing and Twin Peaks, and fans of small town mysteries will find resonance in its portrait of a village that protects its own. Viewers searching for a regional European crime story with a tense, character driven investigation will find it here.
