## Synopsis

Arte (2020) is a Japanese anime series produced by Seven Arcs and broadcast on TOKYO MX, adapted from a seinen manga. Set in 16th-century Renaissance Florence, it follows Arte Spalletti (voiced by Mikako Komatsu), a young aristocrat who sets aside her privileged life to pursue painting. Her engine is the struggle to gain training in a rigid society of social classes, where she must win a place in a studio run by the strict but fair painter Leo (Katsuyuki Konishi), who values talent over gender. The single season of twelve episodes unfolds as a slice of life, with each episode built from workshop routines, artistic apprenticeship, and the friction of class and discrimination. Its tone is gentle and earnest, with a wistful, hopeful register and an emphasis on craft and the pleasure of making art. Fans of Emma: A Victorian Romance and Vinland Saga will find resonance in its period detail and its determined heroine.
