## Synopsis

Deadly Tropics (2019-present) is a French national-television crime drama series created by Eric Eider, Ivan Piettre and Thierry Sorel and broadcast on France 2. Set on the Caribbean island of Martinique, it follows two investigators, Mélissa Sainte-Rose played by Sonia Rolland and Gaëlle Crivelli played by Béatrice de la Boulaye, who are pulled together when several mysterious murders strike the island. Their working relationship is the engine of the show: the two women hold very different views of the law, so every case tests not only who committed the crime but how far a detective should bend the rules to reach a verdict. Julien Béramis plays Aurélien Charlery among the supporting police team, and Stéphan Wojtowicz plays Commissaire Alain Etcheverry, whose orders and politics add friction to each investigation. Each season carries a run of standalone murder cases that the investigators work through over a set of episodes, with a continuing thread of personal lives and professional rivalry running beneath them. The tone is measured and sun-drenched, with humid tropical landscapes contrasting against the darker corners of island life. Fans of Death in Paradise and Witnesses will find the same blend of regional scenery and procedural crime resonance here.
