## Synopsis

Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger (2011-2012) is a Japanese tokusatsu superhero series produced by Toei and broadcast on TV Asahi, forming one entry in the long-running Super Sentai tradition. Captain Marvelous (Ryota Ozawa) leads a band of young space pirates, including Joe Gibken (Yuki Yamada), Luka Millfy (Mao Ichimichi) and Ahim de Famille (Yui Koike), who arrive on Earth in search of the Greatest Treasure in the Universe. To claim it they must gather the Ultimate Powers of the 34 earlier Super Sentai teams, so they transform by borrowing those legacy powers as pirate copies and clash with the Space Empire Zangyack, whose earlier invasion forces were destroyed long before. The series unfolds as a single season of 51 episodes, with a continuing treasure quest that gives each week's monster battle a sense of forward momentum. Its tone is brash, colorful and affectionate, mixing comedy with big transformation sequences, giant robots and kaiju-scale fights. Fans of Super Sentai, One Piece and Power Rangers will find much of the same playful, showy adventure here.
