## Synopsis

La Grande Maison Tokyo (2019) is a Japanese television drama series broadcast on TBS, a single-season run of eleven 45-minute episodes. Kyoka Suzuki plays Rinko Hayami, a determined middle-aged female chef who teams up with Takuya Kimura as Natsuki Obana, a disgraced chef whose Michelin-starred reputation has collapsed. Together they set out to open a new French restaurant in Tokyo and win the coveted three Michelin stars. The engine of the show is the grind of building a kitchen from nothing: sourcing ingredients, recruiting and testing cooks, handling clashing egos and the constant pressure of critics and inspectors. Each episode moves through service crises and personal setbacks while the two leads rebuild their careers and trust. The series is a workplace drama with a competitive edge, framed by the precision and pride of fine dining. Supporting players including Yuta Tamamori, Ikki Sawamura and Mitsuhiro Oikawa fill out the brigade. Its tone is earnest and warm, with tension rising during service and a hopeful, comeback-driven heart. Fans of The Bear and Chef's Table will find resonance in its restaurant pressure and its portrait of craft.
