## Synopsis

Frozen Planet (2011) is a British natural history documentary miniseries created for BBC One and narrated throughout by David Attenborough, who appears as himself guiding viewers across the far ends of the earth. Across seven episodes of roughly fifty minutes each, the series follows the animals of the Arctic and Antarctic as they confront the rhythms of the polar year, from the long winter darkness to the brief burst of summer. Penguin colonies, polar bears hunting along shifting sea ice, reindeer migrating across tundra, and killer whales patrolling frozen coastlines are tracked through the struggle for survival that defines these regions. The engine of each episode is the search for food, shelter, and a place to raise young against brutal cold and shrinking habitat, with the camera lingering on patient behavior as conditions change. The tone is reverent, awe-filled, and quietly urgent, with Attenborough's measured narration giving weight to the fragility of endangered species. Its sweeping landscapes and carefully observed animal encounters will appeal to viewers who enjoy Planet Earth II, Blue Planet II, and Our Planet, and to anyone seeking a calm, visually rich documentary about the natural world.
