## Synopsis

Zoey's Extraordinary Playlist (2020-2021) is an American broadcast musical dramedy created by Austin Winsberg for NBC. Computer coder Zoey Clarke (Jane Levy) forges her way through a demanding tech job in San Francisco after an unusual event lets her hear the innermost wants of the people around her, expressed as popular songs. Max Richman (Skylar Astin), a coworker drawn into her orbit, and Mo (Alex Newell) anchor the workplace and friendship threads, while Mary Steenburgen plays Maggie Clarke, Zoey's mother, and Lauren Graham appears as Joan Bennett. Each episode pairs awkward office situations and family strain with big choreographed musical numbers that reveal what characters truly feel. The engine is Zoey's effort to use this gift to help others while sorting out her own romantic and professional life. The series runs two seasons across 25 episodes in a continuing story that follows its characters' arcs. Its tone is sincere, warm and bright, with a cozy feel-good core beneath the comedy. Fans of Glee and Crazy Ex-Girlfriend will find resonance in its blend of heartfelt romance, pop music, and quirky emotional comedy.
