## Synopsis

Around the World in 80 Days (2021) is a Belgian-French co-produced period adventure miniseries created by Caleb Ranson and Ashley Pharoah for La Une. Adapted from the Jules Verne novel, the eight-episode limited series follows the impeccable Phileas Fogg (David Tennant) and his loyal valet Passepartout (Ibrahim Koma) as they accept an outrageous bet to circle the globe in just eighty days. Their race against the clock is complicated by mishaps, shifting alliances and foreign obstacles at every stop. Aspiring journalist Abigail Fix (Leonie Benesch) joins the expedition, determined to report on this extraordinary story, and her presence adds friction and wit to the partnership. Each episode unfolds as its own leg of the journey, with new places, new people and new dangers, so the adventure keeps a steady forward momentum. The tone is warm, witty and lightly romantic, with a sense of wonder at the wider world. Set in the nineteenth century, the series moves through Victorian Britain and distant lands with a lavish, sweeping scale. Fans of Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrell and Poldark will find resonance in its period splendor and character-driven escapades.
