## Synopsis

Inside Lapenko (2019-2023) is a Russian web comedy sketch series created by Anton Lapenko and Aleksey Smirnov and released on YouTube and VK. Anton Lapenko plays nearly every role himself, from a parade of eccentric townspeople to a rotating set of quirky neighbors, while his real-life relatives Ivan, Yuri, Vyacheslav, Rodion and Nikita Lapenko appear in episodic bit parts. The engine is pure character comedy: each short episode drops a new oddball into an everyday situation and lets the joke build through loosely improvised dialogue rather than tight scripting. The show runs for four seasons totaling twenty-six episodes of roughly twenty-two minutes each, so it works as a collection of self-contained vignettes rather than one continuing plot. Its setting is a shabby, unnamed city that sits somewhere between 1980s Soviet times and 1990s Russia. The look deliberately imitates grainy VHS tapes and the moody, humble spirit of perestroika-era cinema, giving the whole thing a warm, wistful, lightly absurd atmosphere. Fans of Little Britain, Monty Python's Flying Circus and The Kumars at No. 42 will find a similar pleasure in playful, eccentric sketch humor.
