## Synopsis

BOFURI: I Don't Want to Get Hurt, so I'll Max Out My Defense. (2020-2023) is a Japanese anime series produced by SILVER LINK. and MAGES. and broadcast on AT-X. Adapted from a light novel, it follows Kaede Honjou, who is pulled into a virtual reality MMO by her friend Risa Shiramine. Kaede hates pain more than she loves games, so she builds her avatar Maple by pouring every point into vitality. The result is a slow, clumsy character who cannot cast magic and can be bested by a rabbit, yet she unlocks Absolute Defense and a Counter Skill that nullifies incoming attacks. The engine of the show is her wandering through the game's quests and encounters, where her invulnerability keeps turning fights into comedy. Each episode is a self-contained adventure, with the supporting cast of players gradually building a warm circle around her. The two seasons, twenty-four episodes in total, keep a light, cozy and gently funny register. Fans of Sword Art Online, KonoSuba and Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon? will find the same blend of virtual world play and easygoing humor.
