## Synopsis

Pandemic: How to Prevent an Outbreak (2020) is a American documentary docuseries created for Netflix. Across six episodes of roughly fifty minutes each, the series follows real public health professionals on the front lines of the fight against influenza, including epidemiologist Syra Madad, who appears throughout the season. Rather than a scripted drama, the show is built from field work, laboratory preparation, and planning sessions, so each episode centers on the concrete problems experts face when trying to spot and contain a dangerous virus before it spreads. Former Senate majority leader Tom Daschle also appears, lending a policy perspective on how governments respond to health threats. The single season moves at a measured pace, framing its subjects as determined, competent people working against an invisible enemy. The tone is urgent yet earnest, with an emphasis on preparedness, scientific rigor, and the human stakes of a global crisis. Viewers drawn to science documentaries, true events accounts of epidemics, and crisis-focused series like Contagion and Coded Bias will find the same blend of expertise and public stakes here. The series is a limited run with a clear focus on prevention rather than panic.
