## Synopsis

The Stranger (2020) is a British miniseries mystery thriller created by Harlan Coben for Netflix. Richard Armitage plays Adam Price, a seemingly settled husband whose quiet life falls apart when a stranger, played by Hannah John-Kamen, makes a shocking claim about his wife Corinne (Dervla Kirwan). Adam is drawn into a web of blackmail, buried lies and fractured memory, while detectives DS Johanna Griffin (Siobhan Finneran) and DC Wesley Ross (Kadiff Kirwan) work a bizarre case that runs alongside his own unraveling. The engine of the series is Adam's frantic attempt to separate truth from manipulation, with each episode peeling back another layer of suburban respectability to expose secrets his neighbours and family would rather keep hidden. The eight-episode story plays as a single continuing puzzle rather than a case of the week, and it is built for viewers who enjoy a twisty, suspense-driven thriller. Its tone is tense and paranoid, with a glossy, soap-adjacent texture. Fans of Harlan Coben adaptations such as The Woods and Hidden will find a familiar pull of domestic dread and buried secrets, set in a present-day English town.
