## Synopsis

The Midnight Gospel (2020) is an American adult animated science fiction series created by Pendleton Ward and Duncan Trussell for Netflix. Comedian Duncan Trussell voices Clancy, a space caster who travels through an impossibly strange multiverse using a Universe Simulator voiced by Phil Hendrie. Each of the eight roughly twenty-five-minute episodes pairs Clancy's recorded conversations with real guests against hallucinatory, hand-drawn worlds built from their words, so a talk about grief or addiction might turn into a lush dreamscape. The engine is curiosity: Clancy wants to understand how people face death, meaning and suffering, and each episode's journey unfolds as a meditative, reflective inquiry rather than a plot. Guest voices include Anne Lamott and Drew Pinsky, and the tone is cerebral, psychedelic and gently irreverent. Produced by Titmouse, the series is a single season and was canceled after its run. Fans of Rick and Morty, Adventure Time and Undone will find resonance in its blend of surreal animation, offbeat humor and philosophical searching, though its mature language and strong drug talk make it best for adults seeking thoughtful, mind-bending television.
