## Synopsis

James May: Our Man in... (2020-2024) is a British travel documentary series created by Tom Whitter, James May and Henry Dalton for Prime Video. James May, the presenter, travels across Japan from its icy northern reaches to its balmy southern islands, meeting local residents, seeing the sights and sampling regional noodles in an effort to grasp the country on its own terms. Each episode is built around a route and a handful of encounters, with May's dry, self-deprecating commentary doing much of the work as he moves from one place to the next. The show runs across three seasons and fifteen episodes, shot with a relaxed, observational eye. Its tone is wry, warm and curious rather than sensational, and the emphasis falls on everyday texture, food and conversation. Fans of Long Way Round, Top Gear and Parts Unknown will find a similar mix of host-led travel, humour and cultural curiosity.
