## Synopsis

The Silent Sea (2021) is a South Korean science fiction drama series created by Park Eun-kyo and Choi Hang-yong for Netflix. Bae Doona plays Song Ji-an, a member of a small crew of space explorers dispatched to a lunar research base, while Gong Yoo plays Han Yun-jae, a fellow team member whose loyalties are tested as the mission unfolds. The engine of the story is a perilous 24-hour retrieval operation in which the team must collect samples from an abandoned facility steeped in classified secrets, with every hour bringing new danger and mounting questions about what was hidden there. Presented as a single eight-episode limited series, it unfolds as one continuous mission rather than a case of the week, building suspense through isolation, decaying corridors, and the unsettling silence of a dead world. Set in a near-future moon base, its atmosphere is claustrophobic, eerie, and melancholic, with a steady undercurrent of dread about institutional concealment and human survival. Fans of Moon, Sunshine, and Stowaway will find resonance in its quiet, cerebral approach to space isolation and its slow-building unease.
