## Synopsis

Dave (2020-2023) is an American comedy series created by Jeff Schaffer and Lil Dicky for FXX. Lil Dicky stars as a neurotic suburban man in his late twenties who has persuaded himself he is destined to become one of the greatest rappers of all time. His engine is a stubborn ambition that keeps colliding with his own insecurities, and he must recruit his closest friends to help him, which turns every attempt into a test of loyalty. Taylor Misiak plays Ally, Andrew Santino plays Mike, and GaTa and Travis Taco Bennett appear as members of his circle, with the friends' reactions driving much of the awkward, self-deprecating humor. Each thirty-minute episode is a self-contained comic misadventure, and the thirty-episode run across three seasons plays out as one loose continuing arc about ambition and friendship. The show is set in contemporary Los Angeles area suburbs and has a cringe-prone, irreverent tone, blending sharp dialogue with raw, uncomfortable situations. Fans of Curb Your Enthusiasm, Crashing and Atlanta will find resonance in its comedian-driven, self-mocking take on fame and hip hop culture.
