## Synopsis

The Irregulars (2021) is a British period mystery series created by Tom Bidwell for Netflix. Set in Victorian London, it follows a gang of troubled street teens who are manipulated into solving crimes for the sinister Doctor Watson (Royce Pierreson) and his elusive business partner Sherlock Holmes (Henry Lloyd-Hughes). The engine of the series is a tug between the gang's loyalty to one another and the pull of a scheme they only partly understand. Each episode centers on a fresh case taken from the dark corners of the city, where ordinary crimes begin to take on a horrifying supernatural edge. Members of the group, including Bea (Thaddea Graham), Spike (McKell David), and Billy (Jojo Macari), must come together as the stakes rise. The single season of eight episodes runs in a suspenseful, irreverent register, mixing period atmosphere with horror and thriller beats. Its foggy streets, gaslit interiors, and grimy alleys give it a gothic texture. Fans of Sherlock and Penny Dreadful will find resonance in its blend of Victorian detection and supernatural dread. The series was canceled after its first season, leaving its story unfinished.
