## Synopsis

Villainous (2017-2018) is a Mexican animated comedy series created by Alan Ituriel for Cartoon Network Anything. Its lead is Black Hat, an evil handyman who runs the Black Hat Org. alongside his less evil aides Dr. Flugslys, Demencia and 5.0.5. The engine of each short episode is the gang's clumsy attempt at a sinister scheme, which keeps going wrong in ways that turn villainy into a workplace of petty frustrations and mismatched ambitions. The show runs two seasons of roughly eleven minutes each, a lightweight animated format built for quick laughs. Its tone is breezy, cartoonish and irreverent, with a gleeful affection for wicked characters who never quite manage to be as menacing as they want. Fans of Megamind, Gravity Falls and Dexter's Laboratory will find similar pleasure in villains who are funnier than they are frightening, and in a playful world where evil is an ordinary job.
