## Synopsis

Omniscient (2020) is a Brazilian science fiction mystery series created by Pedro Aguilera for Netflix, a Portuguese-language production set in a near future Sao Paulo. Carla Salle plays Nina Peixoto, a technology employee who lives under constant monitoring and must outwit the surveillance drone that follows her in order to investigate a murder. Guilherme Prates plays Daniel Peixoto, and Jonathan Haagensen plays Vinicius, two figures whose connections to the case pull her deeper into a web of secrets. Sandra Corveloni, Luana Tanaka and Edmilson Cordeiro fill out the supporting cast. The engine of the story is simple and tense: every step she takes is recorded, every contact is a risk, and every answer she finds exposes her to the system that watches the city. Across six episodes of roughly forty-seven minutes each, the series plays as one continuing investigation rather than a case of the week, building suspense through surveillance tech, paranoia and the pressure of a city that never looks away. Its retrofuturist look, with its mix of old design and advanced technology, gives the tone a cold, neon-tinged melancholy. Fans of Black Mirror, Person of Interest and Blade Runner 2049 will find resonance here. The series was canceled after one season, so its central mystery is left open.
