## Synopsis

Caprica (2010-2011) is an American science fiction drama series created by Remi Aubuchon and Ronald D. Moore for Syfy. Set 58 years before Battlestar Galactica, it follows two rival families, the Graystones and the Adamas, as they compete for influence in a polished, peaceful society of the Twelve Colonies. Eric Stoltz plays Daniel Greystone, a grieving father and brilliant technologist whose ambition pushes the family toward a dangerous breakthrough in artificial intelligence and robotics. Esai Morales plays Joseph Adama, a lawyer whose household is drawn into the same rivalry. Paula Malcomson, Alessandra Torresani, Magda Apanowicz and Sasha Roiz round out the principal cast. The engine of the series is a race to commercialize lifelike digital avatars, while each episode threads corporate maneuvering, personal loss and political scheming through the lives of both houses. Its single season of eighteen forty-minute episodes is one continuing story rather than a case-of-the-week format. The tone is measured and melancholic, with a glossy surface hiding criminal undercurrents and sexual politics. Fans of Battlestar Galactica, Westworld and Altered Carbon will find resonance in its blend of cerebral sci-fi and family drama.
