## Synopsis

Buffy the Vampire Slayer (1997-2003) is an American supernatural teen drama series created by Joss Whedon for The WB and UPN. Sarah Michelle Gellar plays Buffy Summers, a Sunnydale high school student who is the latest chosen slayer, tasked with fighting vampires, demons and the forces of darkness while keeping her grades and friendships afloat. Alyson Hannigan as Willow Rosenberg and Nicholas Brendon as Xander Harris form her loyal core of friends, with Anthony Stewart Head as Rupert Giles serving as the watcher who trains her. Each episode usually pairs a monster of the week with personal drama about crushes, loss and growing up, while a serialized mythology builds across seven seasons toward larger apocalyptic threats. The tone swings between sharp comedy, romance and genuine tragedy, with a cult following and a playful, self-aware style. Fans of Angel and Charmed will find resonance in its blend of horror, wit and emotional sincerity.
