## Synopsis

Bang Bang Baby (2022) is an Italian crime drama series created by Andrea Di Stefano for Prime Video. Set in Milan at the end of the 1980s, it follows Alice Gianmatteo (Arianna Becheroni), a shy and insecure teenager who becomes the youngest member of a mafia organisation in a desperate bid to win the love of her father, an 'ndrangheta affiliate. Lucia Mascino plays Gabriella Gianmatteo, while Giorgia Arena plays Assunta Ferraù and Adriano Giannini plays Santo Maria Barone, figures whose loyalties and rivalries pull Alice deeper into the criminal world. The engine of the show is the tension between a young woman's craving for paternal approval and the violence and secrecy that her new life demands, playing out across a single ten-episode season of 52-minute chapters. Its shape is that of a serialized limited series, with each episode tightening the grip of the underworld on its protagonist. The tone is tense and claustrophobic, with an overlay of eighties excess and glossy surfaces that makes the moral rot feel all the more seductive. Fans of Gomorra, Narcos and Peaky Blinders will find resonance in its mix of organized crime, family loyalty and a coming of age that turns dangerous.
