## Synopsis

The House at Christianshavn (1970-1977) is a Danish national-television domestic comedy-drama series created by Erik Balling and Henning Bahs for DR1. Set among the residents of an apartment building on Copenhagen's Christianshavn, it follows mover Hr. Olsen (Poul Reichhardt), an old-fashioned man with firm views on the world, and the neighboring Clausen household, where pet shop owner Hr. Clausen (Paul Hagen) and his wife Fru. Clausen (Lis Løwert) trade quarrels with their neighbors. The engine of the show is ordinary life: marriages to keep together, careers to manage, and a young couple, Tue (Finn Storgaard) and Rikke (Kirsten Hansen-Møller), finding their footing after moving in. Caretaker Meyer (Arthur Jensen) does as little as he can get away with, while innkeeper Emma (Bodil Udsen) runs the local pub where the building's real decisions are made over drinks. Episodes are self-contained vignettes built on small domestic friction, and the fourteen seasons of six episodes each form a warm, easygoing record of a single block across the decade. The tone is cozy, wry and sincere, with a neighborly comedy of manners that will appeal to fans of Matador and Cheers.
