## Synopsis

Mi Pequeña Traviesa (1997-1998) is a Mexican youth and family telenovela produced and directed by Pedro Damián for Televisa and broadcast on Canal de las Estrellas. Adapted from the Argentine telenovela Me llaman Gorrión, it stars Michelle Vieth as Julia González, a young woman whose dreams of a professional career collapse when her father is left paralyzed in an accident. To keep her family afloat she disguises herself as a boy, Julio, to find work, and in doing so falls in love with Alberto Miranda, played by Héctor Soberón. The engine of the story is the constant risk of exposure: every new job, every family quarrel and every social barrier between a poor working girl and a man from a different world threatens to unravel the secret. Across a single run of 100 episodes, the narrative moves through family conflicts, rivalries and romantic reversals in the classic telenovela manner. The tone is melodramatic and sentimental, with comic tension in the disguise and aching sincerity in the romance. Fans of Me llaman Gorrión, Rubí and Maria la del Barrio will find the same blend of class-divided love, family suffering and heartfelt perseverance.
