## Synopsis

Transplant (2020-2024) is a Canadian medical drama series created by Joseph Kay for CTV. Hamza Haq stars as Dr. Bashir Hamed, a Syrian emergency physician who flees his war-torn country and takes a coveted residency at York Memorial, one of Toronto's busiest hospitals. Bash works alongside Laurence Leboeuf as Magalie Leblanc, Ayisha Issa as June Curtis, and Jim Watson as Theo Hunter, while Sirena Gulamgaus plays his younger sister Amira, who shares his uprooted life in Canada. The engine of the show is Bash's struggle to prove himself in a new system, with unfamiliar rules, skeptical colleagues and bureaucratic hurdles, while carrying the weight of the family he left behind. Each episode is built around a chain of emergency cases that arrive in relentless bursts, blending procedural hospital action with personal drama about belonging and loss. Across four seasons and forty-nine episodes, the series moves at a brisk, emotionally direct clip, with a grounded tone that mixes urgency and warmth. Fans of ER and Saving Hope will find resonance in its ensemble emergency room energy and its focus on the human cost of medicine. The show offers a rare perspective on refugee life in a multicultural city, anchored by its sincere, intimate storytelling.
