## Synopsis

Caronte (2020) is a Spanish crime drama series created by Verónica Fernández, produced by Big Bang Media and aired on Prime Video and Cuatro. Roberto Álamo plays Samuel Caronte, a man trying to reinvent himself and rebuild a life he has lost, while Miriam Giovanelli plays Marta Pelayo and Carlos Hipólito plays Comisario Paniagua, both entangled in the investigations that shape his path. The engine of the series is a run of distinct criminal cases, each one testing the presumption of innocence and the search for the truth, and each one pulling Caronte further into the moral weight of the work. Its single season of thirteen hour-long episodes is built around this procedural rhythm, with personal stakes growing alongside the case files. The story is set in contemporary Spain and takes a grounded, intimate approach to police and courtroom territory. The mood is serious and reflective, with a restrained emotional register that balances tension against a hopeful thread of redemption. Viewers who enjoy the moral ambiguity of The Night Of and the disgraced-man-rebuilding arc of Better Call Saul will find resonance here. The series was canceled after its only season, leaving its larger arc open.
