## Synopsis

1993 (2017) is an Italian political drama miniseries created for Sky Atlantic, produced by Wildside and Sky Italia. Set in Rome in 1993, the eight-episode limited series follows a web of journalists, politicians, and power brokers as the country's postwar political order crumbles under the Tangentopoli corruption investigations. Stefano Accorsi plays Leonardo Notte, a restless operator who must navigate shifting alliances, while Guido Caprino plays Pietro Bosco and Miriam Leone plays Veronica Castello, each pursuing their own ambitions in a city where everyone fights for a foothold in the new system. Paolo Pierobon appears as Silvio Berlusconi and Pietro Ragusa as Gherardo Colombo, anchoring the real historical pressure of the period. Each episode builds tension through backroom negotiations, media maneuvering, and the paranoia of people who sense the ground moving beneath them. The mood is tense, cynical, and claustrophobic, with a grim sense that survival depends on speed and betrayal. Fans of Borgen and The Hour will find resonance in its political intrigue, its prestige drama craft, and its portrait of institutions in crisis.
