Audiences rate the single season as mixed, with its historical premise and conspiracy hook praised while its uneven execution draws reservations.

## Synopsis

Set in 1787 France on the brink of revolution, this single-season historical drama follows a young Joseph Guillotin as he is drawn into a string of mysterious aristocratic deaths. Clues point toward a strange illness spreading among the nobility, and the deeper Guillotin digs, the more he finds official accounts shaped to hide the truth. Power, class resentment and public manipulation simmer through palace intrigue and crowded Parisian streets, while the rising anger of ordinary citizens threatens to boil over into open revolt. The mood is tense, dark and foreboding, with gritty violence and a steady sense that every discovery tightens the noose around the old order. Its appeal lies in its high-concept fusion of conspiracy thriller and period drama, anchored by atmosphere, costume and a hero whose moral compass is tested at every turn. The ending leaves the larger conflict open, rewarding viewers who enjoy mysteries where history itself feels like a suspect and where the mechanics of revolution are shown as something engineered from behind closed doors.
