## Synopsis

Vampires (2020) is a French supernatural drama series created by Benjamin Dupas, Isaure Pisani-Ferry and Anne Cissé for Netflix. Its protagonist Irina Radescu (Juliette Cardinski) is a Paris teenager who is half human and half vampire, and she must come to terms with her emerging powers while her family is torn apart by secrets. Her sister Doina Radescu (Oulaya Amamra) and her father Rad Radescu (Pierre Lottin) are drawn into the turmoil, and Ladislas Nemeth (Aliocha Schneider) represents the hidden vampire world that pursues her. The engine of the story is the tension between a young woman's wish for a normal life and a secret community that wants to claim her, playing out across six episodes of roughly forty minutes each. The series is a single contained season that moves briskly through family conflict, shifting loyalties and the danger of being hunted in plain sight. Its tone is dark and tense, with a moody, urban atmosphere grounded in contemporary Paris. Fans of Twilight, Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Vampire Academy will find resonance in its blend of teen identity and vampire mythology, though its European sensibility gives it a more intimate, morally uneasy texture.
