## Synopsis

Kemono Jihen (2021) is a Japanese anime supernatural mystery series produced for TOKYO MX and based on the manga of the same name, running as a single twelve-episode season. Occult detective Inugami (voiced by Junichi Suwabe) travels from Tokyo to a remote mountain village where animal bodies rot away after a single night, and he is drawn into the case alongside a strange boy nicknamed Dorotabo (voiced by Ayumu Murase), who is shunned by his peers and works the fields instead of attending school. Their investigation is driven by suspicion, local superstition and the question of what the boy really is, as supernatural forces push each clue toward a stranger truth. Each episode builds unease through folklore-laced village secrets and uncanny encounters, with the mood moving from quiet rural dread to sharper bursts of action. Its atmosphere is eerie and melancholic, rooted in yokai legend and bloodline mystery. Fans of Mononoke, Natsume's Book of Friends and Durarara!! will find resonance in its blend of folklore horror, detective procedure and supernatural unease.
