## Synopsis

We Are Lady Parts (2021-2024) is a British comedy series created by Nida Manzoor for Channel 4. Anjana Vasan plays Amina Hussain, a geeky doctoral student recruited as the unlikely lead guitarist of Lady Parts, an anarchic punk band made up of Muslim women. Sarah Kameela Impey plays Saira, the band's sharp-tongued frontwoman, and Juliette Motamed and Faith Omole round out the group as bandmates whose friendships are tested by faith, family expectations and the grind of getting booked. The engine of the show is simple and funny: Amina must learn to perform despite crippling stage fright while the band fights for gigs, record deals and respect in London's music scene. Each episode is a brisk twenty-four-minute comedy of cringe-worthy rehearsals, chaotic gigs and awkward family dinners, and the two seasons build a loose but warm continuing arc. The tone is irreverent, witty and tender, with a sharp eye on cultural difference and the pressure to conform. Fans of Flight of the Conchords, Broad City and Ramy will find kinship in its blend of absurd humor, female friendship and outsider ambition. It is a joyful, rebellious sitcom about refusing to be silenced.
