## Synopsis

Kimagure Orange Road (1987-1988) is a Japanese animated supernatural romantic comedy created for Nippon TV and produced by Pierrot. Fifteen-year-old Kyosuke Kasuga, voiced by Toru Furuya, is smitten with his classmate Madoka Ayukawa, voiced by Hiromi Tsuru, who keeps him at arm's length, while he unintentionally ends up dating her best friend Hikaru Hiyama, voiced by Eriko Hara. Kyosuke and his family hide amazing psychic abilities, so every attempt at romance risks a supernatural mishap in front of classmates and parents. The engine of the show is the juggling act: schoolwork, two girls with conflicting feelings, and a secret that could unravel at any moment. Each episode is a self-contained comic misadventure in a single 48-episode season, with light continuity between romantic setbacks. Set in 1980s Japan, the series carries a breezy, nostalgic atmosphere of school hallways, awkward confessions and gentle slapstick. Its mood is sweet and mischievous rather than heavy. Fans of Ranma ½, Urusei Yatsura and Tenchi Muyo! will find similar romantic chaos and playful supernatural energy in this classic shonen anime.
