## Synopsis

The Lost World (1999-2002) is an Australian and British co-production adventure series created by Catherine Millar and Colin Budds and distributed through first-run syndication. Professor George Challenger (Peter McCauley) leads a group of early twentieth-century adventurers, joined by Marguerite Krux (Rachel Blakely), Lord John Roxton (William Snow), Professor Arthur Summerlee (Michael Sinelnikoff) and Veronica Layton (Jennifer O'Dell), after their hot-air balloon crashes into a remote corner of the Amazon. Stranded on a prehistoric plateau, they must fight for survival against dinosaurs, hostile natives and the rivalries that threaten to split the group apart. Each episode is built around a fresh peril, from predators to jungle hazards, while the larger search for a way home gives the series a continuing thread across its three seasons and sixty-six episodes. The mood is brisk, bold and family-friendly, with pulp adventure energy, wonder at the lost world and a steady undercurrent of camaraderie. Fans of Jurassic Park, Dinosaurs and Journey to the Center of the Earth will find resonance in its blend of creature spectacle, scientific curiosity and survival adventure.
