## Synopsis

Our Miracle Years (Unsere wunderbaren Jahre, 2020-2023) is a German national-television period drama series created for Das Erste, a two-season run of twelve episodes. Set in the wreckage of postwar Germany, the story follows three sisters of the Wolf family, an industrialist household whose fortunes have collapsed along with the country. Ulla Wolf, Gundel Wolf and Margot Wolf must reinvent themselves in a land that has lost its politics, morals and economy, and each one pushes against the expectations of the family name. Katja Riemann plays Christel Wolf, and Thomas Sarbacher plays the patriarch Eduard Wolf, while Hans-Jochen Wagner, Rafi Guessous and Piet Fuchs round out the principal cast. The engine of the series is the struggle to build a future from ruins: rebuilding a livelihood, choosing love and loyalty, and deciding who gets to carry the family legacy. Episodes move through the everyday texture of the 1940s and 1950s, with black market dealings, rubble-strewn streets and quiet domestic tensions. The mood is earnest and melancholic, with flashes of hope and resilience. Fans of Generation War and the female-centered postwar sagas of The Crown will find resonance in its blend of intimate family drama and sweeping historical backdrop.
