## Synopsis

Amazon Riders (2016-2017) is a Japanese tokusatsu superhero series created by Toei Company and aired on Prime Video. Set in contemporary Japan, it follows Jin Takayama (Masashi Taniguchi) and Haruka Mizusawa (Tom Fujita), two dormant experimental cells turned Amazons who transform into Kamen Riders Amazon Alpha and Amazon Omega. Their engine is a grim campaign to exterminate the growing threat of other awakening Amazons hidden inside human hosts, while their own humanity is steadily eroded. Rena Takeda plays Mizuki Mizusawa, and Mitsutoshi Shundo plays Makoto Shido, both entangled in the investigation. The series spans two seasons of thirteen episodes each, a single continuing story with investigative and action-driven episodes. Its tone is bleak, visceral and paranoid, with gore and body horror framing the transformations. Fans of Kamen Rider, Hellboy and Shin Kamen Rider will find resonance in its darker take on the superhero form and its brutal monster hunting.
