## Synopsis

Soulmates (2020) is a US science fiction romance drama created by Brett Goldstein and William Bridges for AMC. Set fifteen years in a near future, it imagines a world where a scientific test reveals exactly who each person's soulmate is. Sarah Snook plays Nikki, one of several principal figures whose lives tangle around that verdict, alongside Kingsley Ben-Adir as Franklin and Dolly Wells as Jennifer. The engine of the series is the gap between certainty and choice: characters must decide whether to follow a result handed down by science, or risk everything on feelings the test cannot measure. Each episode follows a different cluster of lives, giving the show an anthology-like shape across its single six-episode season, which was canceled before its story could fully settle. The tone is wistful and melancholic, with moments of sharp humor and a gentle sense of unease about what a world without romantic uncertainty might cost. Fans of Black Mirror, Upload and Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind will find resonance in its blend of speculative premise and intimate emotional drama.
