## Synopsis

Bäckström (2020-2024) is a Swedish dark comedy crime series created by Leif G.W. Persson for C More and TV4 Hits. Murder investigator Evert Bäckström (Kjell Bergqvist) is the protagonist, a stubborn, deadpan detective who becomes certain that a women's cranium discovered on an island in the archipelago conceals a killing. His engine is simple and relentless: he wants the case to be a murder and fights to pursue it, while his superiors, led by the police chief, push back at every step. Each season unfolds as a run of six-episode investigations in which a discovery keeps reshaping the case, and the story keeps turning on the gap between what Bäckström believes and what the evidence supports. Working alongside colleagues such as Ankan Carlsson (Agnes Lindström Bolmgren) and Hanna Hwass (Livia Millhagen), he is pulled through bureaucratic obstruction and dead-end leads. The series sits within the nordic noir tradition, set in a chilly, rain-washed Swedish landscape of islands and small police offices. Its tone is ironic, satirical and dry, mixing gallows humor with genuine psychological unease. Fans of Beck, Fargo and Wallander will find resonance in its blend of procedural crime and mordant character comedy. The series runs three seasons so far and is presented as a continuing investigation.
