## Synopsis

Panchayat (2020-present) is an Indian comedy-drama series created by Chandan Kumar, Deepak Kumar Mishra, Arunabh Kumar, Akshat Vijaywargiya and Adarsh Kushwah, produced by The Viral Fever for Prime Video. Engineering graduate Abhishek Tripathi (Jitendra Kumar) takes a secretary job in a remote village panchayat office in Uttar Pradesh, having no better option, and spends his days studying for the CAT entrance exam while plotting his escape. Surrounding him are the village council head Brij Bhushan Dubey (Raghubir Yadav), the sharp-tongued Manju Devi (Neena Gupta), and the scheming aide Vikas (Chandan Roy). Each episode is built from mundane village business: a stalled road, a water pump dispute, a fight over a local election, a rumor that spreads through the lanes. The series unfolds across four seasons of eight half-hour episodes, a serialized but character-led story rather than a case-of-the-week format. Set in contemporary rural India, it is grounded and unglamorous, with a wry, warm, gently satirical register. Its humor comes from bureaucratic inertia and village politics, and its heart comes from Abhishek's slow attachment to the people he wanted to leave. Fans of The Office, Parks and Recreation and Gullak will find resonance here.
