## Synopsis

The End (2020) is an Egyptian science fiction miniseries created for ON, a limited series of thirty episodes running about thirty-six minutes each. Set in a 2120 Jerusalem under a repressive regime, the story follows an engineer, Zien, played by Youssef El Sherif, who is searching for a solution to a city-wide energy shortage while the authorities tighten their grip on ordinary residents. His search takes a disorienting turn when he encounters a robotic double of himself, a discovery that unsettles his work and his relationships. Nahed El Sebai plays Radwa, and Ahmad Wafiq plays Mo'nes, whose lives become entangled with his as the pressure mounts. Each episode pushes the central mystery forward through concrete obstacles: restricted infrastructure, surveillance, and the daily strain of living under rationing. The tone is brooding and contemplative, with a quiet dread and a questioning of what makes a person real. Fans of Black Mirror, Westworld and Altered Carbon will find resonance in its speculative premise, its social critique and its focus on identity. Arabic-language science fiction of this kind offers a distinctive regional perspective on the genre.
