## Synopsis

Pingu (1986-2006) is a Swiss-British stop motion animated children's series created by Otmar Gutmann and Erika Brueggemann, broadcast on CBeebies and SRF 1. Its title character is a playful young penguin who lives with his family in an Antarctic icescape, where he is regularly drawn into mischievous high jinks with his pal Robby. Each five-minute episode is a self-contained vignette built on physical comedy and small everyday scrapes rather than dialogue, with the characters speaking only in babbled penguin noises. The series runs six seasons and 156 episodes, and its handmade clay figures and snowy sets give it a tactile, cozy look. Its tone is gentle, sincere, and warmly comic, making it a soothing choice for very young viewers and their families. Fans of Wallace and Gromit, Postman Pat, and Bluey will find a similar kinship in its handmade charm and unhurried domestic humor.
