## Synopsis

Trial by Media (2020) is a US true crime docuseries created by George Clooney and Grant Heslov for Netflix. Across a single season of six hour-long episodes, it revisits some of the most dramatic trials of recent memory and asks a pointed question: did the surrounding media coverage shape the verdicts? Each episode takes one case and rebuilds it through archival footage, news clips, and observational material, following how headlines, broadcast commentary, and eventually social media hardened public opinion before jurors ever reached a decision. The engine is the tension between the courtroom's careful procedure and the loud, fast verdicts rendered by the press. Its tone is sober, critical, and quietly unsettling, with a steady focus on how spectacle can overwhelm evidence. Fans of The Staircase, The Jinx, and Making a Murderer will find a similar appetite for real cases examined with suspicion toward the stories people are told about them. Because each episode stands alone, viewers can dip into any case, though the season's shared argument about media power gives the whole run a unified critical arc.
