## Synopsis

Sweet Magnolias (2020-2026) is a American streaming drama series created by Sheryl J. Anderson for Netflix, adapted from a novel and set in the small Southern town of Serenity, South Carolina. Lifelong friends Maddie Townsend (JoAnna Garcia Swisher), Dana Sue Sullivan (Brooke Elliott) and Helen Decatur (Heather Headley) lean on one another as they juggle romance, motherhood, marriage and the demands of their careers. Each season follows their overlapping personal crises, from family strain and new love affairs to professional setbacks, with Maddie's household and Dana Sue's ambitions as recurring anchors. The engine of the show is loyalty between women who refuse to let each other fall, expressed through kitchen-table confidences, small-town gossip, and rallying support in hard moments. Across five seasons it stays a serialized ensemble story where romantic arcs and family storylines carry forward from one episode to the next. Its tone is warm, sudsy and heartfelt, with a comforting Southern texture and easy humor balancing its emotional stakes. Fans of Steel Magnolias, Virgin River and other cozy small-town dramas will find much to enjoy in its blend of friendship, romance and community. The series was canceled, so its story ends without a planned conclusion.
