## Synopsis

The Woods is a Polish crime miniseries built on a slow, rain-soaked dread. Prosecutor Paweł Kopiński is handed a homicide case that seems unrelated to his past until evidence on the victim suggests his younger sister, who vanished in the woods twenty-five years earlier, may still be alive. As he pursues the killer in the present day, flashbacks to the summer of the disappearance reveal the adolescents who were there and the small community that closed ranks around what happened. Each episode peels back another layer, moving between police procedure and the memories Paweł has tried to bury. The mood is melancholic and paranoid, with a desaturated look that makes the countryside feel threatening and the town feel complicit. Its tension comes less from shocks than from the slow accumulation of guilt, grief and doubt, as the past presses harder on the present. Viewers who enjoy patient, atmospheric mysteries with emotional weight will find a grim, absorbing unravelling of a family wound that refuses to stay closed.
