## Synopsis

The Romance of Tiger and Rose (2020) is a Chinese web drama series created for Tencent Video, a single-season run of 24 forty-five-minute episodes. Struggling screenwriter Chen Xiaoqian (Zhao Lusi) finds herself trapped inside her own unfinished script as the Third Princess of Dongliang, a female-led kingdom where women hold power and men are treated as marriage pawns. Her character is caught between an arranged engagement to the noble Pei Heng (Sheng Yinghao) and a forbidden attraction to Prince Han Shuo (Ding Yuxi) of a rival nation. Han Shuo's sharp, bickering chemistry with the heroine drives many of the episodes, while her sister-like rivals and palace allies create constant complications. Each episode is built around a fresh court maneuver, romantic misunderstanding or political scheme that Xiaoqian must navigate with modern wit and improvisation. The series plays its historical fantasy premise for parody and romance, with a light, breezy comic register that stays warm and sincere underneath. Viewers who enjoy time travel romcoms, self-aware period fantasy and bickering couples in the vein of Eternal Love and Story of Yanxi Palace will find this series engaging.
