## Synopsis

Matarife, an unmentionable genocide (2020-2022) is a Colombian investigative documentary docuseries that was released on YouTube and created by Daniel Mendoza Leal and produced by Delator Producciones. Across three seasons and thirty-eight episodes of roughly twenty-five minutes each, the series pursues the question of a mass killing that many Colombians have been reluctant to name, assembling testimony, documents and reporting into a patient case that builds from episode to episode. Its engine is accountability: the investigation keeps pressing toward the political figures whose authority and silence shaped what happened, and the series has provoked real controversy in Colombia because it implicates former president Alvaro Uribe Velez more directly than public discussion has usually allowed. The tone is sombre, confrontational and weighty, with the viewer kept in a state of unease as the evidence accumulates and the national silence around the violence becomes the subject itself. Its shape is a serialized season-by-season inquiry rather than a case-of-the-week format, and it treats its subject with the seriousness of a prestige true events documentary. Fans of The Thin Blue Line, Making a Murderer and The Act of Killing will find resonance in its patient exposure of state violence and impunity.
