## Synopsis

Poor Nastya (2003-2006) is a Russian telenovela created by Yelena Isayeva, Irina Pivovarova and Sergey Kaluzhanov, produced by AMedia and broadcast on STS. Elena Korikova plays Anna, a figure at the center of the story's shifting loyalties, alongside Daniil Strakhov as Baron Vladimir Korf, Pyotr Krasilov as Mikhail Repnin, and Anna Tabanina as Princess Elizaveta Dolgorukaya, known as Liza. Set in the imperial Russia of the nineteenth century, the series follows romantic rivals and noble families as they circle one another through courtship, rivalry and social ambition. The engine is simple and soapy: a heroine from modest means must navigate aristocratic salons, arranged alliances and tangled love affairs, while every new revelation pushes the relationships in a different direction. It is a single season of 127 episodes, a long-form daily-style soap that rewards viewers who enjoy sustained emotional stakes. The production was among the most expensive Russian television projects of its time and found audiences in more than twenty countries. Its tone is lush, sentimental and melodramatic, with grand ballrooms, opulent gowns and heartfelt confrontations. Fans of Downton Abbey, Ugly Betty and Bridgerton will find resonance in its blend of period splendor and romantic upheaval.
