## Synopsis

A Teacher (2020) is an American limited series created by Hannah Fidell for Hulu. Kate Mara plays Claire Wilson, a young high school teacher in suburban Texas who begins an affair with her student Eric Walker, played by Nick Robinson. Across ten episodes the story follows how a secret relationship accelerates far faster than either of them anticipated, pulling in the school community, the people around them, and the two characters' own shifting sense of what is happening. The engine of the series is the widening gap between what Claire believes she controls and the damage that becomes impossible to ignore. Rather than a case-of-the-week format, it is one continuing, tightly built story told through domestic scenes, school hallways, and quiet moments of unease. The tone is grounded, intimate, and uncomfortable, with a bleak emotional register that lingers after each episode. Its look is restrained and naturalistic, favoring suburban realism over spectacle. Fans of Notes on a Scandal, The Affair and Adolescence will find the same unflinching attention to the fallout of a transgressive relationship. The series is sober and serious, centering aftermath over titillation, and it handles its subject with the weight it demands.
