## Synopsis

Losing Alice (2020) is an Israeli psychological drama thriller created by Sigal Avin for HOT3, a single-season limited series of eight fifty-minute episodes. Ayelet Zurer plays Alice, a middle-aged film director who feels lost after raising her family and has stalled in her career. A chance meeting with Sophie (Lihi Kornowski), a seductive femme-fatale screenwriter, pulls her into an obsessive pursuit of success at any cost. Around them orbit David (Gal Toren), Tamir (Yossi Marshak), Ami (Shai Avivi), Rita (Iris Bahr) and Kobe (Dor Harari), whose lives are tangled in Alice's ambitions. The engine of the show is the widening gap between what Alice wants from her work and what she is willing to sacrifice to get it, with each episode tightening the grip of Sophie's influence. The series unfolds in a contemporary Israeli milieu of film sets, writers' rooms and domestic life, rendered with a tense, intimate, and increasingly disorienting register. Its mood is seductive yet dread-filled, with a psychological edge that keeps the boundary between ambition and self-deception unsettled. Fans of Hostages, Big Little Lies and Mad Men will find resonance in its prestige-drama sheen, its interrogation of a woman's identity in midlife, and its slow-burn descent into moral compromise.
