## Synopsis

Crossing Swords (2020-2021) is a US adult stop motion animated comedy created by Tom Root and John Harvatine IV for Hulu. Goodhearted hero wannabe Patrick, voiced by Nicholas Hoult, lands his dream job as a squire only to find the royal castle is a corrupt hornet's nest of horny monarchs, crooks and charlatans. Its engine is simple: Patrick keeps trying to do right in a court where every rung of authority is compromised, and each episode strings together scheming, bungled schemes and absurd royal misadventures. Alfred Molina voices Robin Hood, and Alanna Ubach voices Queen Tulip, while Seth Green and Adam Pally round out the principal voice cast. Played with brightly colored peg people in handmade sets, the show runs for two seasons of ten half-hour episodes each. The humor is irreverent, crude and deliberately bawdy, with war, murder and frank nudity skewering medieval romance and royal court conventions. Fans of Robot Chicken, Family Guy and Drawn Together will find resonance in its mix of stop motion craft and adult satire. The series was canceled after its second season, leaving its story unfinished.
